On January 16, the in-person Sakura Science Exchange Program conducted by Kida Laboratory and Center for International Education, co-organized by IROAST, started, and the opening ceremony was performed. In this program, 15 participants from 10 countries (Malaysia, Philipines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Mexico, Brazil, Argentine, and Spain) participated in the one-week program. Moreover, students/young researchers of India Institute of Technology-Hyderabad from India are participating in the program online.
At the opening ceremony, Director Takashima gave a welcome message and briefly explained the activities and achievements of IROAST.
Before coming to Japan, they participated in the online program conducted for a week from January 9, with orientation, laboratory introductions, etc. During their stay in Kumamoto, they will attend lectures, mini-symposiums, and field trips, focusing on alternative energy, biomass utilization, and carbon-based catalyst development.
We hope that all participants will have a beneficial experience!
