The purpose is to strengthen international research and cultivate internationally competent researchers by supporting outstanding researchers in the natural sciences who conduct joint research with researchers from world-class universities and research institutions.

The Director shall select international joint research faculty member candidates from among faculty members in research units in the natural sciences and recommend them to the president after consultation and approval from the IROAST Steering Committee.

IROAST will support the research budget for conducting international joint research with researchers belonging to overseas universities and research institutions. Also, they can apply to the IROAST research support programs to receive support for research activities.
