Supported by the "IROAST International Joint Research Travel Support Program", Assistant Professor Shaojie GU (Magnesium Research Center, Kumamoto University) visited Zhejiang University (China) from Jan 12 to 17, 2025 for joint research with Prof. Yang JU.
The joint research aims to optimize microstructures and enhance the performance of advanced manufacturing materials through electron wind force while developing a control theory. By exploring the impact of electron wind on defects (e.g., dislocations, grain boundaries, cracks) via in-situ experiments, the study seeks to clarify the thermal and athermal effects of current treatment, establishing a framework for industrial applications.
Through this visit to Prof. Ju in Zhejiang University, both parties shared their respective research progress (Fig. 1 Research exchanges). Together, they have gained a preliminary understanding of the optimal conditions for current healing techniques.
The Dr. Ju's team highly recognized Dr. Gu's research progress and honored him with a certificate of recognition (Fig. 2).
They are in the process of preparing papers on research results gained through this collaboration, and it is expected that this visit will encourage further development of this collaboration in the future.
