Consul Sharon Bignell from the Australian Consulate-General visited IROAST
オーストラリア総領事館からシャロン・ビグネル領事が訪問されました

On December 15, 2023, we welcomed Ms. Sharon BIGNELL, Consul, and Mr. Fumihito MATSUMOTO, Business Development Manager, from the Australian Consulate-General in Osaka to IROAST to discuss how Kumamoto University, including IROAST, is collaborating with Australian universities and research institutions in various fields, and to exchange ideas for future collaborations.

After an introduction of Kumamoto University and IROAST by Director Kazuki Takashima, he explained about the joint research project with CSIRO, supported by Australia-Japan Foundation, and other research exchanges being conducted at IROAST. Ms. BIGNELL and Mr. MATSUMOTO then suggested further expansion of the joint research network and provided information on research education programs for graduate students available at Australian universities.

It was a very fruitful meeting with useful information for strengthening the international joint research network of IROAST and Kumamoto University.

2023年12月15日、在大阪オーストラリア総領事館からシャロン・ビグネス領事と松本文仁商務官をIROASTにお迎えし、熊本大学、特にIROASTとオーストラリアの大学や研究機関と行っている共同研究について話し合い、今後の連携について意見交換を行いました。

高島和希研究機構長が熊本大学とIROASTについて紹介した後、高島研究機構長が行っている豪日交流基金による支援を受けているCSIROとの共同研究プロジェクトやIROASTで行っている研究交流について説明をしました。その後、ビグネス領事と松本氏が、共同研究ネットワークのさらなる拡大についてアドバイスを頂くとともに、オーストラリアの大学が提供する大学院生のための研究力向上のための教育プログラムについて情報をいただきました。

熊本大学やIROASTの国際共同研究ネットワーク強化のための有益な情報を多く、お二人の訪問はとても有意義なものとなりました。
