Director Takashima visited CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization), Monash University, and University of Technology Sydney in Australia

Apr 10, 2023

Director Takashima visited CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization), Monash University, and University of Technology Sydney.

After visiting Dr. Kun Yang (Senior Research Scientist) and touring the facilities at CSIRO, the Director gave a presentation on the activities and research of IROAST, which was followed by a lively discussion and enthusiastic questions from the researchers. The symposium on international joint research which has been carrying out by IROAST and CSIRO will be held at CSIRO around June, and a research group from CSIRO is also scheduled to visit Kumamoto, so we ensured that we keep continuing promoting our international joint research.

Next we visited Monash University. Dr. Aditya Ardana (Research Scientist), who used to belong to IROAST as a Research Fellow, welcomed us and talked about his activities at Monash University. After that, we were introduced Prof. San Thang (School of Chemistry), who is Dr. Aditya's host faculty and a very prominent researcher in the field of chemistry, to introduce IROAST's research activities and to invite him to visit our university.

At the University of Technology Sydney, we met Dr. Helen Xu (Lecturer, School of Biomedical Engineering), a former member of Associate Professor Lee Ruda's (Institute of Industrial Nanomaterials) IROAST Research Unit, and other researchers from the same field of her. First, Director Takashima introduced IROAST and his research, followed by a presentation by Dr. David Gallego Ortega (Associate Heads of School of Research) on the field of biomedical engineering and UTS. Besides, we discussed the possibility of joint application for the Japan-Australia Fund and the international exchanges in the next fiscal year.

We will continue contributing to promote and develop our university research activities by establishing of stronger international joint research networks and promoting international joint research.
