Associate Professor Hiroki MATSUO (IROAST) and Associate Professor Akira UEDA ( Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology 《Science》), for whom IROAST provides research funding support through the IROAST Young Researcher Support Program, were selected the awardees "Kumamoto University Research Achievement Award FY2024 (熊本大学研究業績表彰)" and the award ceremony was held on November 25, 2024.

At the award ceremony, they received certificate of commendation for each from President Hisao Ogawa. After receiving the certificate, Dr. Matsuo and Dr. Ueda had an opportunity to talk with the President and explain their researches directly.
This achievement by Dr. Matsuo has been added to IROAST's "Awards" webpage.

Papers evaluated for this award---

《Dr. Hiroki MATSUO》
Matsuo, Hiroki; Utsunomiya, Masashi; Noguchi, Yuji, “Utilizing ferrorestorable polarization in energy-storage ceramic capacitors”. NPG Asia Materials, volume 14, Article number: 80 (2022). IF = 9.7(2022)
*The results of this research advocate a new approach for further increasing the capacitance of dielectric capacitors, and will contribute to the miniaturization and performance enhancement of electronic devices and the application of dielectric capacitors for energy storage applications. This research was highly evaluated as research with high expectations for practical applications through optimization of acceptor species and processes, and continued evaluation of the stability of defective dipoles and other properties.

《Dr. Akira UEDA》
Taro Suemune#, Keita Sonoda#, Shuichi Suzuki, Hiroyasu Sato, Tetsuro Kusamoto, Akira Ueda* (*corresponding, # equal contribution), “Partially Oxidized Purely Organic Zwitterionic Neutral Radical Conductor: Multi-step Phase Transitions and Crossover Caused by Intra- and Intermolecular Electronic Interactions”. Journal of the American Chemical Society, volume 144, Issue 48, 21980–21991 (2022)

*What is "Kumamoto University Research Achievement Award"?

This award was established in 2013 to recognize young faculty members who have made particularly outstanding achievements in research within the past three years and have high future potential, aiming to secure excellent human resources and encourage more active education and research.
