(In UK-1) International Advisory Board Meeting at University of Glasgow

Jul 23, 2019

IROAST held an International Advisory Board Meeting at the University of Glasgow, UK between the 1st and 2nd of July 2019. Director Takashi Hiyama and Chief Manager Junichi Kumagai had productive talks with the Dean for Global Engagement (China & East Asia), Professor Konstantinos Kontis. Dean Kontis is also a Mechan Char of Engineering / Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Glasgow as well as an IROAST Distinguished Professor. The meeting was held to exchange ideas for further development of international research collaborations at IROAST.

Director Hiyama provided an overview of IROAST and included research activities starting from our establishment in 2016. He emphasized that the organization was based not only on our excellent researchers/postdocs and distinguished/visiting professors, but also the research units that focus on building international joint research networks to promote interdisciplinary and cutting-edge research collaborations.

Dean Kontis provided several interesting ideas while evaluating IROAST’s research activities, especially on the configuration international advanced research networks where he suggested using a UK-style evaluation system to more deeply accelerate IROAST tactics for making IROAST more attractive and open to the world by focusing on our unique strengths.
