An 8-week “IROAST Hybrid Research Internship Program” organized by Associate Professor Kei ISHIDA (IROAST International Joint Research Facluty Member/CWMD*) is scheduled to start next week on November 18 with the participation of Mr. Shofiyul Anam AI MUBAROK, who is a researcher at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Indonesia.
In this program, Mr. Mubarok will spend the first 4 weeks receiving guidance online from Indonesia, and then he will stay at Kumamoto University for 4 weeks to receive instruction directly from Dr. Ishida in person.
Before the official start of the program, a kick-off meeting was held online on November 14, where Mr. Mubarok had a detailed discussion with Dr. Ishida about what he will do during his internship, which starts next week.
In the program, Mr. Mubarok will be working on the use of deep learning in the hydrological field. He confirmed that the program will start with an understanding of the nature of the hydrological data to be handled, implementation of models using deep learning, and learning the affinity between the characteristics of the hydrological data and the properties of each deep learning method.
After discussing the details of the internship program, the procedures related to his visit to Japan were confirmed.
The in-person internship is scheduled to begin in mid-December and last until January 10, 2025.
