"JST Sakura Science Exchange Program" by Prof. Armando T. QUITAIN and Prof. KIDA's laboratory Starts Today!

On January 15, the opening ceremony was held for the "JST Sakura Science Exchange Program" conducted by Prof. Armando T. QUITAIN (Center for International Education) and Prof. Tetsuya KIDA's laboratory, co-organized by IROAST. Ten participants from Spain, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and Malaysia participated in the one-week program. In addition, 10 students from India Institute of Technology-Hyderabad and 5 students from Philippine Science High School are participating in the program online.
At the opening ceremony, Prof. QUITAIN gave an overview of the program and Executive Vice President Jun OTANI, then, welcomed the participants, saying, "It is very meaningful for the participants and our students to discuss global issues such as SDGs and carbon neutrality through this program".
Director TAKASHIMA also gave a welcome message and briefly explained the activities and achievement of IROAST.
Participants will attend lectures, discussion with university students, mini-symposium and field trips, focusing on biomass utilization.
We hope all participants will have a beneficial experience!
