Opening Ceremony of "JST Sakura Science Exchange Program 2025" Organized by Prof. Armando T. QUITAIN and Prof. KIDA's laboratory, where IROAST is cooperating, held.

The "JST Sakura Science Exchange Program" hosted by Prof. Armando T. QUITAIN (Center for International Education) and Prof. Tetsuya KIDA's laboratory, with the cooperation of IROAST, starts on January 26, 2025.

The opening ceremony was held conducted in the morning of January 27. eight participants from University of Valladolid (Spain), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (Indonesia), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (Thailand), Silpakorn University (Thailand), Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines), De La Salle University (Philippines), and University of the Philippines Diliman (Philippines), participated in the one-week program.
At the opening ceremony, Prof. QUITAIN gave an overview of the program and Executive Vice President Jun OTANI, then, welcomed the participants, saying he hoped they would take this opportunity to experience Kumamoto's charms, such as its nature and history, and that he would be happy to see them return to Kumamoto University as researchers and students.
IROAST Director Kazuki TAKASHIMA also gave a welcome message and briefly explained the outline and achievements of IROAST. Lastly, Vice President Mitsuyo KISHIDA expressed her hope that the program would be fulfilling.
Participants will attend lectures, discussion with university students, mini-symposium and field trips, focusing on biomass utilization.

We hope all participants will enjoy staying in Kumamoto and have fruitful experience though the program.
