Professor Takashi HIYAMA, IROAST Director and Mr. KUMAGAI, Chief Manager had a meeting with Professor. Dennis L. O’Neal, Dean of the School of Engineering & Computer Science of Baylor University on November 26, 2018.
Baylor University, chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas through the efforts of Baptist pioneers, is the oldest continually operating university in Texas. Located in Waco, Baylor welcomes students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and some 89 countries to study a broad range of degrees across its 12 nationally recognized academic divisions.
The meeting of Director Hiyama with Professor O’Neal, the Dean, brought about a good opportunity to discuss the possibility of initiating research collaboration. Moreover, Director Hiyama had a number of individual meetings with faculty members of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering to discuss the possibility of research collaboration in the future.
On the afternoon of the next day, November 27, Director Hiyama gave a lecture to graduate students of the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department on his research experience, the opening of IROAST in 2016, and the Kumamoto Earthquakes which occurred two weeks after its opening.
This visit will open up more opportunities for international exchange between Kumamoto University and Baylor University.
