Q: What brought you to participant in IROAST Internship?

I think this is a rare and good opportunity to experience being an intern researcher at IROAST. Initially, I got information about this program from my friend who is pursuing a doctoral degree at Kumamoto University. Honestly, I didn't know about IROAST before, but after getting information about this program, I started looking for information about IROAST and it turned out that IROAST has amazing professors. After I found a suitable host professor, I decided to join this program. However, research internships can add new experience and especially international networks.

Q: What did you learn /enjoy from participating in the internship?

There were no significant obstacles that I encountered during the internship program. This program actually helped me a lot in increasing my insight into research culture abroad, especially in the research laboratory at the host professor (Prof. Shin-Ichi Ohira Lab’s). In addition to being an intern, through this program I was also able to observe the routine activities of the research group and gain insight when I became a research supervisor. I really enjoyed this activity because I gained a lot of new knowledge and experience. The ease of access to chemicals and research instruments was a significant difference from the research culture in my country. The meeting of the research group members every morning before starting the activity was something very interesting that I might be able to apply here (Indonesia). Once again, the support and conditions provided by IROAST and Prof. Ohira were extraordinary in supporting the improvement of my research capabilities. Therefore, through this I also express my gratitude to them.

Q: Any encouraging message and/or advice to those who wish to interested in the program?

Actually, there is no special message or suggestion from me regarding this activity. Maybe, I just hope that this activity can continue to be held because it is very useful for us as young researchers.
