The 111th IROAST Seminar was held by Prof. Wen-Shing LEE (National Taipei University of Technology, Taiwan), who is also an IROAST Visiting Professor.
At the beginning, Prof. Makiko KOBAYASHI (FAST / IROAST International Joint Research Faculty Member) introduced Prof. Lee, who then gave a lecture on Data Mining, Machine Learning, Image Recognition, etc., which are his areas of expertise. At the end of the lecture, Prof. Lee concluded by proposing that if there is any data to be investigated, contact him and he will analyze it to prepare joint papers.
As semiconductor manufacturers have established in Kumamoto, exchanges between Kumamoto and Taiwan have been increasing, and there are direct flights from Kumamoto Airport to Taiwan. Prof. Kobayashi also encouraged the participants to take advantage of this trend and to promote international joint research with Prof. Lee, since he is an expert of data mining.

第111回IROASTセミナーは、IROAST客員教授でもあるWen-Shing Lee教授（台湾・国立台北科技大学）をお招きして開催されました。
小林牧子教授（大学院先端科学研究部/IROAST国際共同研究員）からのLee教授の紹介の後、Lee教授の専門分野であるデータマイニング、機械学習、画像認識などについて講演が行われました。講演の最後に、Lee教授は、調査したいデータを連絡してもらえたら、解析するので一緒に共同論文を作成しようと提案しました。
半導体メーカーが台湾から熊本に進出し、熊本空港から台湾への直行便が就航するなど、熊本と台湾の交流はますます盛んになっています。小林教授も、「データマイニングのプロである李教授と国際共同研究を進めていきましょう」と参加者に呼びかけました。
