8月25日に、木田教授(熊本大学大学院先端科学研究部)が世話人となり、第98回IROASTセミナーが開催され、学内の教員及び学生が参加しました。アデレード大学からお越しのTran Tung先生が、「新たな用途に向けた先進的グラフェン複合材料」に関する興味深い講演をおこないました。講演後、参加者はグラフェンの活用について意見交換を行いました。

On August 25, 2023, the 98th IROAST Seminar, organized by Prof. Tetsuya KIDA (FAST, Kumamoto University), was held and faculty members and students on campus attended. Dr. Tran Tung from the University of Adelaide, Australia, gave an interesting talk on "Advanced graphene-based composite materials for emerging applications". After the talk, participants discussed potential applications of graphene, including commercial uses.

 Dr. Tran Tung, Senior Researcher, School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials, The University of Adelaide, Australia
 “Advanced graphene-based composite materials for emerging applications”

4.概要 (Abstract) :
Graphene derivatives and their composites have demonstrated the ideal properties to overcome many technological challenges, and have merged as one of the most advanced materials in the research fields of physics, chemistry, life sciences, medicine, and engineering. These graphene-based materials possess promising applications in a variety of disciplines such as electronic, energy, environment, biomedicine, coatings, printing, membranes, particularly in emerging sensing technology. The lecture will introduce the recent progress research in the development of graphene-based composite materials for several promising applications (e.g., conductive inks, functional coatings, absorbers, and smart fertilizers, concrete, etc.). Especially, it is highlighting the employment of graphene-based materials for fabrication of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) sensing devices, as well as piezo-resistive pressure/strain sensors and their practical applications.
