On December 6th, IROAST Distinguished Professor Konstantinos Kontis from the University of Glasgow, UK and Professor Hamid Hosano of the Institute of Pulsed Power Science paid a courtesy visit to Dean Kazuhito Tomizawa of the School of Medicine and Professor Wen-Jie Song of the Faculty of Life Sciences.
Prof. Kontis is a Sir Henry Mechan Chair of Engineering, Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the School of Engineering, Head of Aerospace Sciences Division, and Dean for Global Engagement (East Asia & China) at the University of Glasgow. The purpose of his visit was to explore the possibility of expanding academic cooperation between the University of Glasgow and Kumamoto University.
During the visit, Prof. Kontis first gave a presentation to introduce his home university. Then he exchanged opinions on how to start academic/student exchanges in the medical fields of both universities. Medicine is one of the strongest research fields at both universities, and is expected to be a key pillar of any future university-level agreement.
