Dr. Yuta NAKASHIMA (IROAST International Joint Research Faculty Member) visited Singapore in November under the IROAST International Joint Research Travel Support Program.
The purpose of this visit was to meet with Prof. Chengkou LEE of National University of Singapore (NUS), with whom he had discussed collaboration at the international conference in Kyoto in June 2023, and to officially start international collaboration as a member of his research cluster "Novel Cancer Medical Technology Using Liquid Biopsy".
During his visit, Dr. NAKASHIMA toured the campus of NUS and observed on-campus facilities and equipment, as well as equipment and technology owned by Prof. Lee’s laboratory. Also, Dr. NAKASHIMA and Prof. LEE, as well as their staff and students, had discussion on what kind of technologies needed for the research cluster and how to proceed with international collaborative research in the future, and they agreed to conduct international joint research to achieve their goals.
Furthermore, it was also decided that Ms. Mami AKAIKE (Ph.D. student and Terada Torahiko Fellowship student), a member of Dr. Nakashima’s research cluster, will study in Prof. LEE’s laboratory for three months from January 2024 to promote this project.
It is expected that international joint research and student exchange between the two laboratories will be accelerated in the future.
